"The Struggling Artist"
Dear Erin,
I am a struggling artist and desperately need your input. My parents and friends keep telling me to get a regular job so I can make a decent income, but my heart is in my art. I am beginning to wonder if I am delusional, thinking that I can be successful doing what I love to do. Should I give up on my dreams and live in reality?
Dear Dreamer,
There is a Chinese Parable about Bamboo Trees. They say that Bamboo Trees can be planted, nurtured, feed and watered for up to 4 to 5 years before anything happens… well at least, what our eyes can see happens. Then, all of a sudden the bamboo tree sprouts up within 6 weeks to about 90 feet tall!
There is a time when we, too, plant the seed of our dreams, nurturing it, feeding it and watering it with our attention and love, only to not see any fruition. We often think that all of our hard work and dreams will never manifest. We feel like giving up and abandoning our vision. Meanwhile the dream has been growing its roots within our soul, transforming us into the very essence of it, patiently waiting for the perfect serendipitous moment to bloom into a demonstrated form.
So, water your dream again today and everyday, knowing it is only a matter of time! Pay no attention to the limited beliefs from the people around you and do not give any energy to doubt. Love and fear can't occupy the same space, so only focus on bringing love to the world through your art. Be disciplined in the faith of your dreams and your mind will have no room failure.
Practice ‘The Law of Attraction,’ which is about embodying that which we want to attract. So, if you desire to be a successful artist that has abundance, you need to be an extraordinary artist and bring value to the world through your expression. However, a true artist is an artist whether they have an audience or not and whether they have good income or not. So, just because someone becomes a world-class artist does not mean that they will have prosperity. To attract prosperity, one must also embody the mind-set and skills prosperity. So, develop yourself as an extraordinary artist with a prosperous mentality, bringing your Unique Divine Expression to the world, and you will be living your dream!
The Universe, the Spirit and your Soul are listening and witnessing how commitment you are to your dreams. They are softly whispering, "Don't give up."
The dreams that we hold as true in our heart, become our Divine Destiny!
